Behind the Scenes: Nick Spencer was the original writer on this arc of Supergirl. However, he was pulled off the title at the last moment, leading to James Peaty writing these issue. As part of his plans for Supergirl to form a team of superheros, Batgirl would have featured much more prominantly in these issues, as seen on the solicited covers by Amy Reeder:

Solicitation: "Continuing the new arc by the freshly minted creative team of writer Nick Spencer (JIMMY OLSEN, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS, Morning Glories) and artist Bernard Chang (WONDER WOMAN, SUPERMAN)! Someone has set his sights on killing the next generation of heroes, and his latest targets are Robin and Batgirl! Who is this new foe, and how is he connected to some of Superman’s deadliest foes? Supergirl had better find out fast, before it’s time for another Bat-related R.I.P. story!"

    Supergirl #62 Unused Cover

Solicitation: "Nick Spencer (Morning Glories) assembles the cream of the crop of the next generation of DCU super-heroes in this issue – Robin, Static, Miss Martian, Blue Beetle, Batgirl, the new Impulse – to team up with Supergirl and take on a new villain who promises to define this generation as much as Darkseid, Lex Luthor and The Joker did prior ones. Good luck, kids!"
