A fatal shooting has polarized Tim Drake's high school, forcing Robin and the Spoiler to work together to stop opposing gangs before open warfare erupts.
Summary of Stephness: At his classmate's funeral, Tim see Stephanie Brown in her civilian life, surrounded by other classmates. His girlfriend Ariana is confused at his reaction, and his inability to explain causes a lot of tension. Steph rides off on her motorbike before Ariana can confront her.
Back at his school, Tim works out his tormented emotions on a punching bag, but hears some classmates planning on revenge on the gang that shot Karl. Before he can step in, Spoiler appears, telling them to leave the crime-fighting to professionals. She can't quite convince them with her presence, but when they attack, she takes them down easily. Tim quickly changes into his Robin gear and finds her on her home roof. Asking her what she's doing, she declares she's going to be the hero of the suburbs, since Batman and Robin cover the city. "Maybe Gotham needs a spoiler." Steph then flirts with Tim, and they make plans to pursue the gang the next night.
Ariana expresses insecurity about Tim's reaction to Steph at the funeral when they're on their date, and he tries to reassure her, which seems to work.
Later that night, Steph fills in Tim on what her investigations revealed about the kids who killed his classmate, named "Young El." Tim is impressed, but a bit insecure, and shows off his night vision lenses. They run into the gang, and just as they're about to take in the shooter, they realize that a huge amount of gang muscle is on their way. They take off with Young El. Tim and Steph work carefully together to protect their prisoner and fight off the huge gang members. Cornered in a courtyard, all seems lost, but Batman shows up and saves them all. He hands Young El over to the cops, sends Spoiler home, and confronts Tim about going after such a large threat on his own, reminding him that they are partners.
